Yesterday was Sunday and was one of the nicest days that I have spent in a long time. I started a fast on Saturday night. My fast is supposed to last for 4 meals. I will break it on Monday at lunch time. Because of this, I didn't want to expend a lot of energy while my body worked to clean out some of the garbage I have stored away. So I decided to spend the morning in my "nest" listening to mellow, Sunday appropriate music. The "nest" I am referring to is my bed. It is surrounded by a mosquito net and is the only place I can truly relax and not worry about what is trying to bite me. After reading scriptures for a while, I pulled out my Ipod, put in my earbuds, laid back and listened to some really wonderful music. It has been years since I spent time just listening to music. I had no idea I had so much good stuff on my Ipod.
Mid-afternoon I emerged from my nest, walked up the hill to the office and answered emails. I also read some great articles on the church website. What a tremendous resource for those of us that can't get to church! After dark I headed back to my house and decided to pull out the measuring tape. I don't have a scale here and so I have no idea how much weight I have lost. I was thrilled to discover that I have lost 2 and 1/4 inches off my waste and 1 and 1/4 inches off my hips. Not bad for 2 and 1/2 weeks of work!
I did not see a single person all day except for about 10 minutes with Tom just before I headed to my house to go to bed. After I was in bed, I laid there and watched the lightening storm going on about 10 miles off-shore until I fell asleep. Today, this truly felt like paradise...
All of that sounds exactly what I need right now. What a peaceful day.
