Day 7

I have gotten into a pretty regular schedule each day. I naturally wake up about 5, get up at 6, get dressed and read scriptures until 7, go to yoga for an hour, shower and dress, have breakfast at 8:30.

Every day breakfast consists of the meat from a baby coconut, a glass of coconut water (called "buko"), to this I add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and the juice of fresh lemon or lime. It actually tastes pretty good. I also have some wheat grass juice, some blue-green algae tablets and a tablespoon of fresh chopped garlic (I just put it all in my mouth and swallow it down with water). Then comes my favorite part. It is just brown rice cooked with garlic and sea salt. It feels like comfort food. I was surprised to find out that brown rice is found to be beneficial in fighting several types of cancer. One article I found said the following:

"Eating legumes at least three times a week and eating brown rice at least once a week have been shown to reduce the risk of colon polyps by 33 percent and 40 percent, respectively, according to a July 28, 2011, Loma Linda University School of Public Health media release."

Walking north along the beach, this is the view to your left.

This is the view to the right.

I was finally able to get my exercise clothes yesterday.  It is so interesting going down to the shops on the beach. On one side is this gorgeous beach and beautiful clear blue water. On the other side is a hodge-podge of little shops selling all kinds of tourist stuff. There are some small resorts and restaurants tucked in there as well. There are people that want to give you a message, sell you pearl necklaces, and that wave racks of sunglasses at you, hoping to part you with some of your money.

After an hour and a half of walking through all this I was tired and ready to relax. But before that could happen, I had to first make the climb up the hill to Mandala. You can't tell from this picture how steep these steps are but it is a killer. There are 112 steps up and on the day that I can make it all the way to the top without stopping and without feeling like I'm going to collapse, I will know that I am in pretty good shape.
