Day 28

The weather continues to be fierce but I am enjoying it. The wind howls and the rain comes down in buckets and I can hear the surf crashing on the shore. Last night, about the time I was going to write my blog, an amazing electrical storm passed over us. That meant that everything needed to be unplugged from the outlets and I decided just to curl up in my nest and go to sleep.

We did have a bit of an adventure today. The two rottweilers escaped off the property. The property sits on top of a hill adjacent to the spa property. The area around the residence is surrounded by a wall on 3 sides and the 4th side faces the beach but it is a very steep drop down with jungle conditions. We looked for the dogs everywhere but could not find them and could not figure out how they got out. After scouring the neighborhood and the beach for an hour and a half, we came back home. Tom and I walked the perimeter of the property again to figure out how the dogs escaped and determined that the only possible place was in front of the shala where the wall is a little lower. The dogs are what keep the burglars away and  word was out that the dogs were gone so we spent some time deciding how to secure the property for the night. Then, just before dinner, someone came to the gate and said that the dogs had been seen. Janet (the maid) grabbed the leashes and went after them. We were very relieved to see the dogs back home and they seemed glad to be back home. They were very quiet and still the rest of the evening.
