Wow! I have been here for a month. I still have a long way to go but I have seen so many changes already. I don't think I look any different but I feel very different. I have lost 3 inches off my waist and 2 inches off my hips. I am much steadier on my feet and can put my pants on without holding on to something for balance. My yoga looks pitiful but I have improved significantly. The first time I did a plank (push-up position in the up position), I could only hold it for 4 seconds. Today I held it for 30 seconds. My "sun salutations" are comical to watch but everyone in the shala is kind and give me the occasional pointer. In my defense, I am carrying the weight of another whole person compared to them. And some times that other person just gets in my way!!
I have been thinking a lot about how to continue the good habits I am developing here once I am back at home. I spent all afternoon online looking at food options. I kept coming across stuff on genetically modified foods. There is a ton of information just on YouTube and it is quite frightening what is happening to our food supply. It is estimated that 70% of the food in the grocery store has GMOs. And so many illnesses, including autism, are linked to these foods. Out of the dozen or so videos I watched, I picked out one to share with you. This guy has several videos and has written a couple of books. He knows his stuff and is easy to understand. I hope you will take the time to listen to the whole thing. California has a ballot issue coming up that would require companies to label genetically modified foods. Since companies know that people won't buy things that they know are GMO, they will have to stop putting the "Frankinfoods" into foods to stay in business.
