Today was a hunker down and get some homework done day. I did have an interesting observation. The place we are staying doesn't really have raw food and it has been difficult finding things to eat. Last night I was absolutely starving because I hadn't eaten much all day. So I looked at the menu and tried to pick out the thing that would be the healthiest choice. There was a vegetarian stir-fry that looked good so that is what I ate. It tasted wonderful. But the next morning in my yoga practice, I was weak and all my joints ached. The only thing I could attribute it to was eating cooked food last night. It was quite a dramatic show of the immediate effect food has on our bodies.
I am finding out more about Siargao. This place is famous for board surfing. Here in General Luna, if you aren't a native, you are a surfer. They have international competitions here and there are some cool viewing platforms from which you can watch the surfers. Sorry the picture above is blurry. I forgot to take my camera with me so this is just a Google stock photo. But this is one of the viewing platforms from which you can watch the surfers. It is at a resort called Cloud 9 that is just down the street from us. Surf season here is from August to March and the competitions are the end of September/beginning of October. There is still time to come play if there are any wanna-be surfers out there. As far as I can tell, most of the resorts here were started by surfers that came to surf, they decided to stay, and opened a resort to support themselves. Some of them are very nice and some of the owners need to pay more attention to their business and less to surfing.
