Day 63

Today I had a colonoscopy at the hospital in Cebu. I totally marveled at the results. Yesterday the gastroenterologist indicated that I was probably in trouble because it had been 6 years since my last test and the 2 prior tests had found multiple pre-cancerous polyps. So today we were all shocked to find that there was only one small polyp (lab test will take another week).

My previous doctor had told me years ago that it takes 10-15 years for cancers to get big enough to be detected. Even though polyps are removed, new ones are already there, just too small to see. This is an ongoing process that will continue for the rest of your life unless there is some kind of intervention (chemo adds to the problem and is not considered an intervention in the process). Theoretically, having had multiple polyps the first time and then multiple polyps 3 years later and then waiting 6 years should have put me in full-blown colon cancer.

I tried to get the doctor today to admit that possibly what I have been doing made a difference in the results.  I told him about keeping my colon clean and eating a raw organic diet. He would not admit or deny that it could make a difference. He just kept up the mantra that I needed to be checked every 3 years no matter what I was doing. But I could tell that he was very surprised at the results. He was expecting to give me bad news but there just wasn't any. So I know that you all can't see me but I am doing a victory happy dance right now!

I am asking all my friends and family to please offer a prayer of thanks for the Lord's infinite mercies.
