Day 9

It has been very stormy here. Just when you think it couldn't possibly rain or blow any harder, it does. But I really like it. I wish I could send some of this rain to the folks at home.

I found another article on brown rice I thought I would share. The internet is full of them but this one was neat and concise.

Eat Brown rice to prevent cancer

brown_rice - 2Brown Rice is the world most healthiest food. It is not the color which makes it healthy when compared to white rice. Brown rice has it layers intact while white rice loses all it layers and is polished and kills all the nutrients present in it.
Brown rice provides antioxidant protection. Vitamin E protects the cells from damage and hence prevents various skin cancers and so do other minerals like manganese, selenium
The fiber content in brown rice just like oats prevent colon cancers. It relieves constipation and hence normalizes the bowel function. The fiber in brown rice also helps to bind to various cancer causing chemical and keep them away from the cells lining the colon and prevent any harm to these cells.
Women also benefit from the fiber provided by brown rice as it reduces the chances of breast cancer.
These benefits are not provided by white rice. Now you have a stronger reason to switch over to brown rice.

I also watched a video call "Healing Cancer From the Inside Out". It helped me to understand how eating meat contributes to cancer.  We all have cancer cells throughout our bodies but our immune system keeps them in check. Cancer cells have a protein barrier around them that make them invisible to our immune system. But our pancreas produces an enzyme that breaks down that barrier making the cancer cell visible to our immune system. But this same enzyme is needed to digest meat. If we use up the enzyme to digest meat, there may not be any left over to break down the protein barrier around the cancer cells which allows the cancer to grow unmolested. Evidently, this is only a problem with animal source protein and not plant source protein. I think this is one of the reasons the Word of Wisdom tells us to eat meat sparingly.
